UPMASA PEERS Project

The UPMASA Peers Project is a referral system whose purpose is to reach out to UPCM graduates coming here for the first time as they search for residency / fellowship positions.  Most of you will probably recall those days when we first struggled to set foot in this country.  You can imagine how much more difficult it is these days for these fresh graduates to follow our footsteps.  With your help and assistance as a Peers Volunteer, these graduates will no longer feel alone in their struggles as they seek our guidance.

To accomplish this objective we are compiling a list of individuals who will be a part of this nation-wide network of resource persons.  They will be called the “Peers Volunteers” and can apply to any of the following:

  • Alumni in private practice
  • Alumni in teaching and research institutions
  • Alumni currently in residency / fellowship training
  • Alumni doing J-1 Visa waiver positions

Your role as a Peers volunteer can be as simple as providing your home as a place to stay during their interviews, to giving them advise on the nuances of the residency application process or to actually referring or recommending them to training programs that you may be affiliated with or know of.

We encourage you to sign-up as a Peers volunteer by posting your name in the comment below or sending your contact to hechiverrimd@gmail.com.    Your information will be made part of a database system of Peers volunteers and will be made available to our UP College of Medicine graduates coming here when they visit the website and your region.

We look forward to have you join in our growing family of Peers volunteers!
